PRESENTATION: Vera C. Rubin: From Astronomer to Observatory
The Vera C. Rubin Observatory, which went online last summer, will change our understanding of the universe. What is the mission of this innovative observatory and the largest camera ever constructed? Who was Vera Rubin, and why was she important in astronomy? Find out in this talk about the trailblazing astronomer and the revolutionary observatory named after her.
OUR PRESENTER: KaChun Yu, Gates Planetarium
KaChun Yu joined the Denver Museum of Nature & Science as part of a team tasked to create planetarium software to visualize the known universe. Since then, he has helped produce planetarium movies, advised on science content in museum exhibits, and participated in extensive education and public outreach. His research interests include teaching astronomy with digital planetariums, the use of storytelling in education, and the evolution of young star clusters.
