Darryl Maximilian Robinson celebrates the 214th Anniversary of the birth of American literary master Edgar Allan Poe ( January 19 1809 ) with an online encore presentation of his recent video rendition of 'The Conqueror Worm'.
Chicago-born and LA-based Thespian Darryl Maximilian Robinson ( a 1997 Chicago Joseph Jefferson Citation Award Winner for his work with his multiracial chamber theater The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago in Athol Fugard's 'Master Harold And The Boys' at The Heartland Cafe Studio Theatre in the Windy City's Rogers Park neighborhood and a 2015 / 2016 Los Angeles Elate Season Ticket Holder Best Actor Award Nominee for his work at North Hollywood's Lincoln Stegman Theatre in Tad Mosel's classic one-act of life in The Theatre 'Impromptu' as part of an evening of short works entitled 'Just 4 Fun' ) recently released a new video theatre version of Edgar Allan Poe's classic poem 'The Conqueror Worm' in Los Angeles.
As an experienced stage performer adaptor and director of the works of 19th-century American literary master Edgar Allan Poe classically-trained thespian Darryl Maximilian Robinson ( the Founder Artistic Director and Producer of both The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago and The Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project ) has always relished an opportunity to bring the Gothic poet to new audiences. And his prevously released "street theatre"-style video renditions of 'Annabel Lee' at Santa Monica Pier and 'El Dorado' at LA's Bruce Lee Statue in Chinatown reflect this.
Now with the great assistance of Photographer Videographer and Editor Danny Belrose ESC Founder Darryl Maximilian Robinson has endeavored to give lovers of the poet's words " A Little Poe In The Park" with his new "street theatre"-style" video offering of 'The Conqueror Worm' presented on the outdoor stage of The Levitt Pavilion in Los Angeles' MacArthur Park.
Darryl Maximilian Robinson has become noted as the very first black actor in American Theatre History to portray on stage a trio of classic dramatic roles including: Sir Thomas More in Robert Bolt's "A Man For All Seasons" ( in a 1984 revival presented by The University Players of The University of Missouri-St. Louis and directed by AEA Member John Grassilli at The Benton Hall Theater ); King Henry II in a 1992 multiracial cast revival of James Goldman's "The Lion In Winter" ( directed by Mr. Robinson for his chamber theatre Excaliber Productions, Ltd in St. Louis and staged at The Wabash Triangle Cafe ); and Andrew Wyke ( opposite the talented actor Sean Nix as Milo Tindle ) in a 2000, 30th Anniversary, all-black cast revival of Anthony Shaffer's "Sleuth" presented under Mr. Robinson's direction by his chamber theatre The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago at The Harrison Street Galleries Studio Theatre of Oak Park, Illinois. Most recently, Darryl Maximilian Robinson was named a winner of a 2022 Making The World Happening Award for his numerous online theatre-related offerings at Allevents.in
