Bring an item that needs darning, and learn how to do it yourself! We recommend basic hand sewing skills, but this is a beginner class.
About this Event

Darning 101! Everyone will bring an item of theirs that they would like to darn and after a tutorial, we will each work on our own item for the remainder of the class with instructor supervision. This class is a beginner's class, but it will help to have BASIC hand sewing skills. This class will also teach people how to DIY darning mushrooms out of glass jars and various household items.

If you have a darning needle and/or a darning mushroom/egg, please bring it so we can teach you how to use your tools!

About the instructor, Marlee Blue: Marlee has been mending clothes for a number of years. They are passionate about sustainability and keeping things out of the landfill. They work in landscaping and so their clothes are in constant need of mending, which they've learned to do skillfully and efficiently.

This class is a part of our Fabrics and Fibers Skill Series, which includes 12 classes and 1 event that hope to give you the opportunity to learn a variety of textile-based skills.

Our sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries. Please choose the level that best fits your family’s income.
