Darnell Cole plays blues with the weight of a preacher and the swagger of a rock band. He picked up guitar at ten in a Pasadena house where both parents played, and went on to front the blues rock trio Porcelain Hill, touring internationally and running the UK circuit in 2019.
His debut solo album A Man Of Soul was cut at Mix LA with producer Marc DeSisto, whose engineering credits include U2's Rattle and Hum and Don Henley's The End of the Innocence. Behind him, The Vibe brings drummer Jit Chatterjee and bassist Elliot Lawrence, and together they pull gospel roots and a Sly and the Family Stone groove into a sound that lands somewhere between Sunday service and juke joint. Cole calls his music cheaper therapy. One night in the room will explain why.
