Bli med på 42 minutter og 2 sekunder i mørket. Nasjonalbiblioteket inviterer til kollektiv lytting til albumet «A Blaze in the Northern Sky» av det norske svartmetall-bandet, Darkthrone. Albumet fra 1992 er atmosfærisk, rått og kompromissløst og står fortsatt i dag som en av de viktigste utgivelsene i svartmetallens historie.
Før og underveis i avspillingen vil poeten og litteraturkritikeren, Martin Svedman (1977), fortelle publikum om sitt forhold til den voldsomme musikken og om den første gangen han hørte den, en opplevelse som har vært med ham siden han var tretten år gammel.
Svedman ga i 2019 ut den kritikerroste diktsamlingen, «Når jeg drikker», om livet som alkoholiker.

He was living in the United States when he first heard of the album that would stay with him forevermore.
With their album A Blaze in the Northern Sky, Darkthrone became one of the most influential Norwegian black metal bands of the 90s.
With its simple riffs and raw sound production, this 1992 album consistently scores high on rankings of the best metal album of all time.
Svedman is our companion through this dark, threatening landscape of music.
