Created as part of the James and Martha Duffy Fellowship at Baryshinkov Arts Center, this work emerges by way of situational references that weave between gestures of intersubjectivity amidst an attempt at decontextualizing the role of mise en scene within spectacle. In the breakdown, one comes to find the inseparability and difference between subject and story–swelling in acceptance of the imperfect as an essence of 'not always-ness' beckons new beginnings. This work deploys poeisis as a method for movement adrift in knowing that action in and of itself will always be political. And so, if water is too thirsty what quench is to nourishment, consider air to be what circumvents an ether of autonomy contained in promise. Like breath, the invisible particulates animacies of nonperformance. And yet light, knows no force greater than blackness. It’s in the feeling of assembly that sensation inundates the poignancy of an allegory.

Darkside of the Rainbow is presented within a landscape of lattices that helps to signify the nature to scale beyond its physical dimensions. It is here that one is placed within a process and the queering of its own approach; nestled in acoustics and nurtured through improvisation. What if queering the approach meant for one to start, pause, start, stop, and begin again – creating a mirror for life's own systemic structures and the driving force of the body's ability to adapt and reorient. Here, the audience is invited to take part in the work's progress through notions of impact absorption, the dissolution of parameters, and the controlling of a collapse.
