*English below*Dim är ett verk för tre dansare. Ett tillstånd av bedövning styr deras relationer och vägar, där omsorg, våld, likgiltighet, gränslöshet och begär darrar fram på en ojämn stig.
Dim utforskar anestesi – både som en konsekvens av den tid vi lever i, och som ett verktyg för att hantera denna tid. Detta bedövade tillstånd uppstår ofta pga vårt överestetiserade, accelererade och informationsrika samhälle.Paradoxalt nog framkallas det ofta också kemiskt, på egen hand, som en sköld mot samma överväldigande verklighet. Aldrig tidigare har så många människor använt antidepressiva läkemedel som idag – en utveckling djupt förankrad i senkapitalismens läkemedelsindustri, som en del menar har som funktion att bibehålla produktiviteten i arbetslinjen.
Detta koreografiska verk behandlar de fysiska logiker som dessa tillstånd framkallar, och hur människors perception av världen och andra förändras. Vad är det du bara ignorerar för att det inte rör dig, för att du är bedövad? Och vad kan ens göras, eftersom du känner mindre? All stimuli kan inte skärmas av, och vissa överväldigande intryck sipprar ändå igenom och plockas upp av kroppen. Hur hanteras relationella känslor som omsorg och våld genom denna dimma?
Verket, som är en världspremiär, är det första av tre i koreografen Rosalind Goldbergs STUPOR-serie, som alla behandlar temat anestesi.

Dim is a work for three dancers. A state of numbness steers their relationships and pathways, where care, violence, indifference, boundlessness, and desire tremble on an uneven path.
Dim explores anesthesia – both as a consequence of the times we live in and as a tool to cope with these times. This numbed state often arises from our over-aestheticized, accelerated, and information-rich society. Paradoxically, it is also frequently chemically induced, as a self-generated shield against an overwhelming reality. Never before have so many people used antidepressants as today – a development deeply rooted in the pharmaceutical industry of late capitalism, which some argue functions to maintain productivity within the labor system.
This choreographic work examines the physical logics that these states evoke and how human perceptions of the world and others are altered. What do you simply ignore because it does not concern you, because you are numbed? And what can be done, since you feel less? Not all stimuli can be blocked out, and certain overwhelming impressions still seep through and are absorbed by the body. How are relational emotions like care and violence navigated through this haze?
A world premiere, this work is the first of three in the STUPOR series by choreographer Rosalind Goldberg, which all deal with the theme of anesthesia.
