Danny Is My Boyfriend

Tightly wound Lucy is living with her mom after a breakup so brutal it landed her in a mental hospital. So when her new boyfriend Danny asks her to dogsit while he’s out of town helping his sister prepare for her baby’s non-denominational circumcision party, it feels like a major milestone: proof that her relationship (and life) is on track. But the illusion shatters when a stranger on the street recognizes the dog… as HER boyfriend Danny’s dog.

Thrown into a reluctant alliance by the discovery that they have the same boyfriend, Lucy and the stranger—Mechi, a painfully literal, socially awkward babysitter—form an unlikely duo. Fueled by betrayal (and questionable judgment), they launch a mission to get even. But revenge proves difficult for two women who are more emotionally disoriented than dangerous. Their plots are well-intentioned and nearly succeed, but something always slips sideways, leaving them unable to land the blow and quietly unraveling under the weight of feelings they don’t yet understand.

What unfolds is a messy, unexpected adventure that finally severs their attachment to the man who hurt them. For Lucy, it’s the beginning of true self-possession; for Mechi, it’s a step into her own power. And for both, it’s the start of something unexpectedly deeper than the relationship they’ve lost. They let go of a man who wasn’t worth it—and find something far more sustaining and real in one another.
