Danielle’s Story ♥️
Some may or may not know in 2014 my family suddenly lost my healthy 29 year old sister to a sudden cardiac arrest , through the devastation Danielle remained heroic and at the age of 16 she had signed up to be an organ donator, she helped 7 people in total , 3 of which were children.
As a family we wanted to do something positive in her name , you will have probably seen round green boxes round the city and its these boxes that are her legacy.
Public defibrators ….. they never crossed any of our minds until the unimaginable happened.
We could tell you about all sorts of numbers and statistics but there are a few that we think are the most eye opening -
❣️Approximately 80% of cardiac arrests take place in people's homes, and 13% happened in public spaces meaning you are more likely to have to perform life saving actions on someone you love.
❣️A study shown just half of people (51 per cent) in the UK say they would be able to perform CPR if a loved one had a sudden cardiac arrest in front of them.
❣️People suffering from a cardiac arrest have a matter of minutes and without intervention will die , the survival rate is only 9 in every 100 will return home.
It took 6 minutes for a rapid responder to reach my sister and there was no public defibrators to access and despite CPR being performed the lack of oxygen to her brain meant she was unable to be saved.
Carlisle now has over 70 public defibrators and they are being used everyday and have saved many lives. And as a family we are really proud that Danielles story was able to help.❣️
In 2015 just 4 month after she had died it was her 30th birthday and we decided to throw her a charity party which raised a significant amount of money getting those defibrators onto the streets of Carlisle.
This February she'll be turning 40 and we want to do the same thing again, but this time in aid of the British Heart Foundation as now we believe research, knowledge and understanding is the direction we need to go in order to save even more lives.
❗️❣️So we hope to see you all there for a night of fun , dancing and laughter.
Let’s raise loads of money for a fantastic cause, all in the name of one of the most amazing people we had the pleasure of loving ❣️
