Praised by The New York Times for his “ravishing vehemence” and “soulful performance,” Daniel Lee presents a prrogram dedicated to exploration of Sylus Fantasticus. Sylus Fantasticus was developed in the 17th C, and rather than featuring logical and expected musical ideas, strived to astonish the listener with unexpected gestures and harmonies, dramatic contrasts and free, improvisatory writing. This concert explores some of the virtuoso works of Biber, Buxtehude, Castello, Jenkins and Corelli.
