The City of Cambridge will once again host Danehy Park Family Day on Saturday, September 20, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event rain date is September 27, 2025.This free community event, sponsored by the City of Cambridge, has something for everyone. Enjoy a fun-filled day of children’s amusement rides, activities including kite flying, arts and crafts, music, and roving performers, plus food and other giveaways (while supplies last). The Children’s Stage will include performances by Trend N Motion Hip Hop Dancers, Jenny the Juggler, Magic by George, and Dixie Cookbook. Roving performers will include Jay the Stilt Walker, Steve Elfant Balloon Artist, the Grooversity Drum Band, Spirit of Africa, and the Chinese Lion Dancers and Band.
Danehy Park is a 55-acre facility located at 99 Sherman Street in North Cambridge (adjacent to Garden and New Streets). This year marks the 35th anniversary of the park’s opening. Since its opening, residents and visitors have enjoyed the park’s athletic fields, walking paths, playgrounds, public art, dog park, and community events. The park is also home to the Louis A. DePasquale Universal Design Playground, a 30,000 square foot play area designed to prioritize accessibility.
Free shuttle buses will be running throughout Cambridge to provide transportation with four routes covering nearly 20 pick-up sites beginning at 10:15 a.m. Additionally, Danehy Park can be reached by public transportation, #74 bus or #78 bus from Harvard Square, #83 bus from Central Square; or a shuttle bus from the Alewife MBTA Station.
