Fiddler and singer Lissa Schneckenburger teams up with percussive dance innovator Nic Gareiss and multi-instrumentalist Garrett Cameron for a dynamic new collaboration rooted in tradition and injected with playful creativity. The trio calls themselves Dandling, and blends driving fiddle tunes, inventive rhythms, and spontaneous musical interplay as they explore traditional music and original compositions. Dandling draws it’s name from the verb meaning to move an infant up and down on the knee or in the arms in a playful way, or to pamper or please someone, and they hope their music will bring playfulness, solace, and joy to their listeners. Drawing from several of Schneckenburger’s recent albums of new instrumentals and songs, the trio will inspire you with their virtuosic interpretations and unique instrumentation.
Gareiss, named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch,” brings a dazzling percussive dance style rooted in clogging, flatfooting, and step dance, transforming the stage into both concert and rhythmic playground. Cameron adds rich textures on vibraphone, weaving together influences from Scottish and Cape Breton traditions, Minimalism, and improvisational groove.
The result is a high-energy collaboration that moves effortlessly from foot-stomping, dance-driven excitement to hauntingly beautiful moments of reflection—an unforgettable evening where music and movement spark off one another in real time.
