AUDITIONSWHEN:
Saturday, February 9, 2023 from 9:00am - 6:00pm
WHERE: YMCA of Greater Boston, 316 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02115 *DIFFERENT LOCATION THAN REHEARSAL SPACES* This space will allow us to hold auditions over 1 day with access to a larger space for the day.
REGISTER: Pre-Register online and before Feb 10 at http://danceworksboston.com/registration/
COMPLETE THESE TWO STEPS TO REGISTER:
1. Complete your Dancer Registration Form online before August 26. http://danceworksboston.com/registration/
2. Pay $50 Dancer Registration Fee online (or cash will be accepted in person at auditions on August 27. No checks). http://danceworksboston.com/registration/
AUDITION DAY:

Wear casual dance clothes (tanks, tees, tights, sweatpants...whatever you feel comfortable in that makes you feel confident). Bring dance appropriate shoes or dance bare foot - NO shoes or boots that scuff the dance floor will be allowable on the floors. Please also bring your ID, a pen, water bottle and snacks for the day.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11:
8:00-9:00am - CHOREOGRAPHER MEETING
9:00-10:30pm - DANCERS ARRIVE - check in at Atrium AUDITION NUMBER DISTRIBUTION & HEADSHOT - All dancers must show proof of vaccination, online Registration Form & Fee and receive their audition number. *please remember to register prior to audition day online* YMCA will need to see your identification for safety check.
10:30am - 12:30pm - CHOREOGRAPHER SHOWCASE in the gymnasium
12:30pm - AUDITIONS by dance style (dancers can come and go as they please if not auditioning for a particular style).
12:30-1:30pm – TAP AUDITION (in gymnasium & Studio 2)

5:30-6:00pm - Hand in Forms & Pack Up
*AUDITION FORMAT*
A few counts of 8 will be taught for each style of dance. You will then perform this choreography in small groups for the choreographers of that style. Before each small group auditions, a choreographers name will be stated. If you’d like to audition for their dance, you will raise your hand for that choreographer. Then your group will perform the combo you were just taught. Each choreographer will have the option of running one item specific to their piece across the floor to showcase a specific skill: turns, leaps, style, performance. The choreographers teaching the combinations will be announced at auditions.
CANNOT ATTEND AUDITIONS?
If you cannot attend Dancer Auditions but would still like to be considered, you must email [email protected] ASAP. Please include the following:
- your previous dance training & experience;
- include links to videos of previous dance performances you've been featured in
- the Director will email you back with a video audition number and instructions to complete an electronic Dancer Audition Form which indicates which piece(s) you would like to audition for. VIDEO AUDITIONERS: please submit and complete your electronic Dancer Audition Form LATEST by FEB 6!
