About this Event

"If we could bottle the effects that dance has on our bodies, minds, and brains, it would be the new wonder drug!"

Recent research now positions dance ahead of other physical activity in terms of its impact! Dance is an inclusive, social activity that has significant benefits on a physical, mental and emotional level. It engages individuals of all ages in life-giving activity, scientifically improving general levels of health, immune function, brain health, neuroplasticity, confidence and social integration.

This Dance Health Demo will be informative, interactive and entertaining! Gwen Korebrits, Co-Founder of Dance Health Alliance, will discuss the importance of keeping active in an ageing body and share some techniques to activate the brain to help delay dementia. Accompanied by a DanceWise class and an eclectic playlist, you will experience the positive uplift of dance and be inspired and to keep moving.

No dance experience is necessary and no special clothing required!

When: Friday 7 October, 2.30-3.30pm

Where: Harbord Diggers Club, 88 Evans St, Freshwater NSW

About Gwen Korebrits

Gwen Korebrits is the Co-Founder and Senior Certified Dance Teacher (AISTD) of Dance Health Alliance. Having started dancing at the age of 3, she attended the prestigious dance and stage school Bush Davies School of Theatre Arts (UK).

Gwen has seen first hand the rejuvenating power of dance, when her father suffered a stroke at the age of 45. She had no preconceived ideas of rehabilitation but after encouraging him to sing, dance and recite poetry, slowly step by step, verse by verse his brain began to repair itself, and within 12 months he was back to normal except for a small limp. That was the start for Gwen's journey to discover the marriage between dance and health.

With Gwen has developed dance/movement programs specifically designed to help older adults with coordination, balance, and movement and been integral to the development of the DanceWell and DanceWise programs, for people living with Multiple Sclerosis and dementia respectively.
