There will also be a post-performance hangout to mingle and converse with all the artists.
An evening show by the Vancouver Residency Artists, showcasing their full-length twenty minute works. Performances by Ysadora Dias, Perelandra Waddle, and Shahir Qrishnaswamy. There will be a facilitated post-performance talk back, where you can ask the artists questions about their work, process, and experience in the residency!

ABOUT THE RE-CENTERING / MARGINS RESIDENCY
Re-Centering / Margins increases opportunities and professional development for Vancouver-and Surrey-based, IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, People of Colour) early career dance artists to create contemporary works with mentoring support to more fully realize their artistic visions. This project also supports our mission by strengthening early career contemporary dance artists for future engagements locally, provincially and beyond!
PROJECT BACKGROUND
The six selected artists were chosen in a competitive process by a Selection Committee of established artists. Each artist receives a $2500 flat fee and chooses an established artist to be a mentor offering creative feedback, as well as an emerging writer of colour to accompany and document their process.
This residency is funded by Canadian Heritage, in part with the support of a City of Surrey Cultural Grant, and the BC Arts Council. We would also like to thank the Antler Ridge Dance Studio, Dance Victoria and the Hamber Foundation for their generous support of the artist tour in July to Salt Spring Island and Victoria.
