Dance Strong

It’s time to register! Our Dance Strong program will be offered at Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center starting in May. This is our second annual Dance Strong program, provided free of charge to community residents. With dedicated sessions for 8-12 year old and 13-17-year-old students, learn to build strength, improve balance and reduce stress.

Our instructors are professionals in the dance world, and you do not need prior experience in dance to join!

The Dance Strong program aims to improve walking skills and movement as you learn how to use your muscles, improve your posture, and achieve balance coordination. In addition, you will enhance concentration, feel more relaxed, and gain body awareness through exercise and dance movement.

This year, we have two outstanding Dance Strong instructors:

• Ronald Alexander is an experienced dancer, dance educator, administrator, and choreographer. Ronald has extensive experience working with Alvin Ailey American Dance Company, The National Ballet of Canada, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Dance Theater of Harlem, the Frankfurt and Hamburg Ballets, Germany; Metropolitan Opera Ballet New York, NY. and many others. He has an extraordinary career in dance, education, and beyond. Recently, he was an Honoree of Dance Teacher Magazine and is he recognized an exceptional teacher. Meet him, study with him, and learn from him.

• Deepa Liegel is a member of the Limon Dance Company. She has danced with the Mark Morris Dance Group, performed at the Kennedy Center and Metropolitan Opera and Broadway in Broadway Bares 28 and many other productions. She has performed in films, such as “Winged” and performed in musical videos too. She is certified in Classical Pilates, a mind-body exercise focusing on building core stability and strength. Deepa received rave reviews from our Dance Strong program students last year, so we invited her back this year. Join Deepa and learn how to move better, dance better and feel better!
