Dan Powers is making music that he never could have made when he was 20 years old, fronting the local indie band Caspian. There are songs that can only be written after you have put some miles down. Songs about fatherhood, and burnout, and growing up with the one you love. “Let It Be The Light” is Dan Powers’ second solo album, on which the Southern Indiana songwriter lays out his own deeply personal vision of the world around him. The songs are a mixture of Americana, folk, indie and rock, but the lyrics-first approach ties them all together.
Bro. Stephen started late at night in a small room in a shotgun house in Louisville, KY in 2008. As the songwriting project of Scott Kirkpatrick, it slowly grew over the next several years with countless shows and national tours and a myriad of releases. These days, it is a rare occurrence when Scott unlatches his guitar case and performs as his days are now busy running a winery in Mendocino County, California, but when he does the songs still work and the subsequent years since their heyday have built new meaning and depth into them. This will be his first performance in Louisville in almost 15 years.
