About:
Dan Merlo is a trombonist and composer who plays many genres with many bands including Mario Abney's Windy City Ramblers Chicago style New Orleans brass band, Latin Blue's guitarist Ivan Singh, Soul/Blues/Funk group Rick King and the Royal Hustle, and long-standing member of the renegade marching band Environmental Encroachment. He began his study at the Vince Davis Basement Academy for free jazz in September 2021 and is proud to bring that concept to the Epiphany Arts stage for the "Dan Zeppelin" Led Zeppelin reimagination. The Dan Merlo Quartet features legendary drummer Vincent Davis (of Velvet Lounge, AACM, and Roscoe Mitchell fame), internationally traveled young and monstrously talented bassist Micah Collier, and the muscular dynamism of pianist Leon Lewis-Nicol.
