Damp is a common issue in older buildings, which if inappropriately treated or ignored can be damaging to both the building itself and the health of its occupants. This 1-hour live online session will introduce a practical approach to understanding dampness and moisture in buildings, its causes and its appropriate treatment in older properties. The talk will last approximately 45mins, with an opportunity to ask questions in a 15min Q&A.

Trainer Overview:
John Edwards
Professor John Edwards (MA, DipBldgCons, CEnv, FCIOB, FRICS, IHBC) is a practitioner and educator with over thirty years’ experience. He is a Chartered Building Surveyor, Chartered Environmentalist and Building Pathologist, and was a member of the five-person RICS team that contributed to the industry guidance, Investigation on Moisture and its Effects on Traditional Buildings; as well as being chair of the IHBC Technical Panel. He is also an industry expert on Retrofit, is a member of the BSI Retrofit Standards Task Group, and has been responsible for the refurbishment and retrofit of thousands of buildings ranging from social housing to grade 1 listed buildings and Scheduled Monuments. A Director of Edwards Hart Consultants, and in his professor on practice role at the University of Wales Trinity St David, he leads on retrofit activities at the Construction Wales Innovation Centre.
