FORM welcomes Damien Dempsey, Irish folk singer-songwriter, to Future Yard. Born in 1975 in Donaghmede, Dublin, Damien’s earliest inspirations come from artists such as Bob Marley, Christy Moore and Elvis Presley. Damien Dempsey blends traditional Irish folk music with touches of modernity, taking inspiration from reggae and hip-hop. His lyrics are raw and poetic, delivering social and political commentaries.Damien’s music has quietly won the admiration of respected artists such as Brian Eno, Sinéad O’Connor, Bob Dylan and U2, with whom he has also shared the stage. Morrissey later invited him to join his U.S. tour as a supporting act. Damien has received several Irish Meteor Awards, including Best Irish Male and Best Traditional Folk, and his albums have reached Platinum status and topped the charts. His work has also earned recognition from Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Billboard, MOJO, and The Sunday Times.
