Damascus Center punch

Pattern welded steel or Damascus is a age old technique , long associated with masters of the craft. In this intense two day class students will learn the basics of making this legendary material. Starting with several pieces of 1080 and 15n20 students will forge weld them into to a small. This billet will be patterned and then forged into a center punch. The center punch will be ground heat treated, polished and etched.

The class will cover the basics and theory of forge welding , and introduction to pattern development , polishing and etching techniques for Damascus , as well as the basics of heat treatment.
