Daddy Daughter Dance Book Launch & Dance Party with Author Malcolm Newsome

We are thrilled to host Malcolm Newsome for an evening at Three Avenues Bookshop, where we'll celebrate the release of his newest book with a story time, book signing, and DANCE PARTY! Costumes encouraged 👻

When: Friday, October 24th at 6:30 pm (doors open at 6:15 pm)

Where: Three Avenues Bookshop - 3009 N Southport Ave, Chicago, IL 60657

We'll start with a story time and book signing, then we'll head to the bookstore dance floor. During the dance party, we'll have:

• Music, of course!
• A disco ball
• A fog machine
• A "worst dancer" contest for the grown ups
• A "best dance move" circle for the kids
• A costume contest
• A photo op with a polaroid keepsake
• And light snacks & drink

At last, the day of daddy-daughter dance is finally here! To get ready for their special night out, Mona and Daddy transform their entire day into a special dance routine. They boogie, shuffle, and slide to the hair salon, the nail place, and the dress store. Even when Daddy trips, he reminds his baby girl that the groove inside us never stops. But when they arrive, the dance has been cancelled! How will Mona, Daddy, and the other families get their chance to get down?

Malcolm Newsome is a children's book author from the Chicago area. He has a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology and now works in cyber security for a campany called Jemurai Security. He writes picture books with the aim of bringing hope and possibility to as many young people as he can. He is the author of Dear Star Baby (Beaming Books, 2023), Sydney’s Big Speech (HarperCollins, 2024), and several more forthcoming titles.

When he’s not writing or spending time with family, you’ll probably find him either reading, spending time outside in his mini-orchard, making homemade pop (not soda!), baking bread, or being a lumberjack.
