About this Event

Joseph Han tells the story of a Korean American family living in Hawai’i as they face the fallout of their eldest son’s attempt to run across the Demilitarized Zone into North Korea in this “fresh, inventive, and at times, hilarious novel” (Kaui Hart Hemmings, author of The Descendants)

Honolulu based author JOSEPH HAN was born in Korea and raised in Hawaiʻi. He is an editor for the West region of Joyland magazine, and a recipient of a Kundiman Fellowship in Fiction. His writing has appeared in Nat.Brut, Catapult, Pleiades Magazine, Platypus Press Shorts, and McSweeney’s Internet Tendency. He received a PhD in English and Creative Writing at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

Anjoli Roy is PhDJ for “It’s Lit,” a literature and music podcast that she cohosts with Jocelyn Kapumealani Ng and has featured more than 100 writers to date. From Pasadena, California, she is a mashi to eight, a godmother to one, and the last of her parents’ three girls. During her down time, she likes to longboard with loved ones or on her own, and to go on long walks in her neighborhood of Makiki.
