CYBORG: A DOCUMENTARY at THE BARN CINEMA, TOTNES.
Screening followed by director Q&A.
Cyborg: A Documentary is a film about the first formally-recognised cyborg Neil Harbisson, who was born completely colour-blind with a rare condition called achromatopsia.
A talented musician, Neil studied Music Composition at Dartington College in Totnes, Devon where he attended a lecture by a young technologist called Adam Montandon that changed the course of his life. Following the lecture Neil worked with Adam to create a device that would translate colour waves into sound frequencies so that Neil might be able to perceive colour as sound.
Now Neil has an antenna permanently implanted in his head that allows him to hear colour and, together with his childhood friend and cyborg collaborator, Moon Ribas, he has founded the Cyborg Foundation and the Transpecies Society to promote the design of new senses in humans.
