Explore Tejon Ranch through art in this hands-on cyanotype workshop with artist Rhonda Burton co-hosted by the Bakersfield Museum of Art. Learn this sun-print process using native plants and natural materials gathered from the ranch’s diverse landscapes. We will explore the botanically rich are of the Mojave Desert and Sierra Nevada interface. Each participant will make artworks that they can take home. Materials are included in this workshop.
Current Artist in Residence, Rhonda Burton is a Los Angeles–based artist whose work explores the calming, restorative beauty of the garden through photography and mixed media; her close-focus imagery of petals, succulents, and leaves emphasizes color, pattern, and texture, which she enhances by printing on fine art paper, hand-embellishing with colored pencil or pastel, layering rice paper, and mounting on wood or canvas beneath acrylic. After an early career in watercolor and teaching, she returned to art decades later to reimagine botanical details using collage, mono prints, and cyanotype techniques informed by a Wabi-Sabi appreciation for imperfection.
Your registration supports the Conservancy’s work to preserve Tejon Ranch’s wildlife, open spaces, and cultural history. No prior art experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to spend time outdoors.

All guest names will need to be submitted for approval by our landowner ahead of time; no last-minute substitutions or additions can be accommodated.
Any vehicle travel on the Ranch must be done using a Conservancy vehicle.
A staff member or docent must be present with your group at all times during the visit.
