Welcome to Cyanotype 101: Creep Collage Workshop! Join us for a fun and spooky event where you'll learn the art of cyanotype printing and create your own eerie collage. This hands-on workshop is perfect for beginners and maker enthusiasts alike.

Assata Gonzalez hosts this four hour printmaking intensive, teaching you the process of creating brilliant, prussian blue images with light-sensitive chemicals, organic materials, digital negative and create unique blue prints on various materials. Join us Saturday, Nov 02, 2024 at 12:00 PM at MakerSpace NYC in the Brooklyn Army Terminal, choose photos of yourself of loved one you'd like to honor on the day of the dead to create beautiful, ( and if you wish creepy, surreal) prints! .

Assata Gonzalez is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and workshop facilitator specializing in cyanotype. With a practice rooted in mysticism, research, and symbolic expression. Assata explores themes of identity, memory, and the natural world. Her work often incorporates intricate layers of personal narrative, symbolism, and texture, merging traditional cyanotype with mixed media elements such as embroidery and gilding.

In her cyanotype workshops, she will introduces participants to the magical process of creating cyan-blue prints, blending technical instruction with creative exploration. Her workshops encourage a deep connection to both process and meaning, allowing each participant to tap into their own creative potential while learning a timeless photographic technique. You are free to add the prints of loved ones, pets, or fictitious saints to a tradional Day of the Dead Altar at the end of the workshop!

Cyanotype solutions can print on many surfaces! Feel free to bring anything you'd like to print on, please have up to 4 photos pre-selected for the workshop!
