MEETING POINT at the entrance to the cemetery, at the junction Slateford Road/Angle Park Terrace.
Join our guide to learn more about the First and Second World War servicemen and women who are commemorated in the cemetery, the majority of whom had died as a result of their wounds through training accidents or illness. The tour will also include the graves of the two VC winners who are buried in the cemetery.
Edinburgh (North Merchiston) Cemetery contains 121 First World War burials, some of which form a small plot in Section K marked by a screen wall. There are also 15 burials of the Second World War.
The tour lasts approx. 90 mins and covers about 1000 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground.
Limited parking available immediately inside cemetery gates. There are no facilities or toilets on site.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the cemetery.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.
