Info: Hooman Pirouz is a Vancouver-based Mechanical Engineer specialised in Mechatronics. He is the Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Sonibel Instruments, building their novel acoustic based real-time weld defect detection system. He previously worked at Seaspan ULC as a Reliability Engineer, where he was originally inspired to launch Sonibel.

Sonibel’s technology monitors the acoustics of arc interactions during welding with a small torch-mounted sensor and uses artificial intelligence (AI) to provide welders with real-time alerts when defects occur.
