Join us at Hart Crane Park for a full day of fun along the river to celebrate the progress and history of the Cuyahoga River.
About this Event

Cuyahoga River Rally celebrates the progress of the Cuyahoga River and the recreational and lifestyle enhancements clean water provides.

This event is free and open to all, however, reservations are recommended for all the free tours offered.

FREE EVENT ACTIVITIES & TOURS

Beer Garden and Festival Village with live music open 11 AM to 4 PM.

Live Music Schedule:

Registration recommended for all below activities as space is limited. Please allow a half hour between tours to allow time for check-in for each tour so you can check in for each tour at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour.

Yoga

Riverside Yoga with One Tree Love in Hart Crane Park - Join us for a free, outdoor yoga class from OneTreeLove instructor Lisa Meranti for all-level outdoor yoga to connect mind, body, and planet. We will celebrate summer, the Cuyahoga River, and community through yoga poses, mindfulness, breathing practices, and natural elements you may feel the therapeutic effects of outdoor yoga. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat or towel, and drinking water.

Kayak Tours

Kayak River Cleanup with Trash Fish

Bring your own kayak to Cuyahoga River Rally and join Eddie “Trash Fish” Olschansky in a fun and rewarding morning river clean-up session. Participation is free if you have your own kayak, but kayaks are available to rent for $25. Buckets and trash grabbers provided.

Two tours available: 11 AM – 12 PM and 1:00– 2:00 PM.

Cuyahoga River History Kayak Tour

Led by a Ranger from Cuyahoga Valley National Park, this guided kayak tour will help you explore the river and learn about the ongoing restoration efforts by the National Park Service and their partners. Bring your own kayak or kayak rentals are available at a discounted rate of $10 courtesy of OMH

Four tours available: 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM; 12:45 PM – 1:15 PM; 2:15 PM – 2:45 PM; and 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM.

Walking Tours

Urban Birding Walking Tour

The urban Flats of Cleveland may not be an obvious place to search for birds. However, with a vital water source in the Cuyahoga River, the number of species that live in this recovering habitat can be quite surprising. Join Matt Debelak, Education Coordinator of the Greater Cleveland Aquarium on a walk along the river and search for ducks, hawks, herons, swallows, and many other birds that may be utilizing this aquatic resource in different ways. A limited amount of binoculars will be available at the event on a first-come first-served basis.

Two tours available: 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 2:24 PM

Cuyahoga River Revival Walking Tour

Led by volunteers from the Cuyahoga River Area of Concern Advisory Committee, this walking tour winds up the banks of the ‘Crooked River’ pausing to observe areas where river restoration actions have been implemented, spotlighting fish habitats, erosion remediation, and public access points. Walking tours cover about 2 miles and include some hills.

Three tours available: 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1:00 to 2:00 PM, and 2:30 to 3:30 PM

BIKE TOURS

Where the River Burned - Bike Tour - Join Jim Sheehan and the Ohio City Bike Co-Op team for a 5-mile guided bike tour. On the tour you’ll learn about the Cuyahoga River Fires, the comeback of a river left for dead, and the history of Cleveland’s Industrial Valley. The ride starts at Hart Crane Park and makes tour stops at Irishtown Bend, Canal Basin Park, Fire Station #21, Sokolowski's Overlook, 1952 fire overlook, Collision Bend overlook, and returns to Hart Crane Park. Please note: Bikes are not provided. Helmets are required.

Boat Tours

River Tours on the Holiday Boat

Soak up the sun and the scenery along the Cuyahoga River during a 30-minute boat ride on the Holiday, which will pass Canal Basin Park, the future home of Irishtown Bend Park, and The Flats.

Four tours available: 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM; 12:30 - 1:00; 1:30 - 2:00; and 2:30 - 3:00

Dragon Boat Rides

Take a ride on a Dragon Boat! Cleveland Dragon Boat Association, a little-known secret on the Cuyahoga River, joins Canalway to offer complimentary Dragon Boat experiences. Learn about this growing sport and start a new adventure with them.

Five tours available: 12:30 - 1:00 PM, 1:30 - 2:00 PM, 2:30 - 3:00 PM, and 3:30 - 4:00 PM
