This is a walk of around 12 miles, that starts from Cuxton, which lies close to the River Medway and the North Downs, for an undulating exploration in the north of the county.Our route sets off towards the church, where our first climb of the day up Church Hill, takes the group to May's Wood, to soon join the North Downs Way (NDW). This might be the first time that many of the Ashford Group, have walked the NDW in this part of Kent. Later our route leaves the NDW at Great Buckland, joining another Long Distance Path, namely the Wealdway (WW)
A delightful stretch of the WW, takes us to Luddesdown, before heading across Henley Down to eventually reach Cobham. Continuing on, this circuit joins a byway marked on OS Map 148 as Lodge Lane, then next up is Cobham Park, so you may spot deer, on our way past the Darnley Mausoleum.
Not to be missed in the latter stages are the delights of the Bush Valley, with the route descending to Lower Bush, and rising gently along the ridge to Upper Bush, for the return to Cuxton.
Our lunchbreak will take place at Cobham, followed by drinks in the Leather Bottle, which was immortalised in the Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens.
Dogs welcome, but please keep on a short lead when required.
