The and Bloomin' PGC Partners invite you to participate in our upcoming Urban Farmers & Growers Open Mic Night! This event is a platform for the urban farm community to collaborate and share useful information. While the focus is on urban ag conservation, any topic is open for discussion. All farmers (not just PGC urban farms) and growers are welcome to join us!
Must have at least 12 farmers registered BY NOON the day before the Open Mic Night or it's subject to cancellation.

Cut Flowers, Conservation + Conversation
Thea Sierra of Sierra Farms & Gardens will share her passion for growing vegetables and specialty cut flowers while sharing her experience starting a new farm plot and using regenerative practices to improve soil health, conserve water, and grow efficiently. Thea will discuss no-till farming, mulching, drip irrigation, low tunnels, biointensive planting, string-trellising tomatoes, and tools such as the Paperpot Transplanter and Jang seeder. She'll also share how she began incorporating flowers into her produce operation and what she has learned on her journey as a beginning farmer.
Thea and the Soil Conservation District staff are hoping to gather new and experienced flower farmers for informational sharing and fellowship!

About Thea Sierra
Thea Sierra, is the owner and grower at Sierra Farms & Gardens, a small urban farm rooted in regenerative agriculture, community, and a love for growing good food and beautiful flowers.
Her journey into farming began with a garden that became a place of healing and eventually grew into a deeper passion and purpose. She expanded her knowledge of regenerative farming at the University of the District of Columbia’s Firebird Farm as a beginning farmer intern. That experience led her to pursue and complete her professional science master’s at the University of the District of Columbia, where she further developed her focus on sustainable food production, food access, food security, and the Farm-to-Pantry supply chain.
At Sierra Farms & Gardens, she grows a diverse mix of fresh vegetables, herbs, and specialty cut flowers using practices such as no-till growing, composting, mulching, cover cropping, crop rotation, and water-efficient drip irrigation. A key part of the farm’s mission is also giving back by helping provide fresh, locally grown produce to families in our community.
Networking begins at 4:30 and the program will begin promptly at 5:00pm. Light refreshments will be provided. Please bring a camp chair, water, bug spray, and a hat!
