Disconecta, the Sydney-based collective renowned for its sensory, inclusive experiences blending music, art, and community, is excited to announce a special edition in partnership with Your Mate Bookings, featuring a live performance by acclaimed Brazilian artist CURUMIN.
Rooted in the ethos of connection—and the act of disconnecting from the obvious—Disconecta merges DJ sets, creative markets, and workshops into immersive events that celebrate rhythm, presence, and culture. The name holds a dual meaning: “Disco” references both vinyl records and the dancefloor, while “Necta” evokes nectar—the sweet essence shared through sound, movement, nature, and community.
On October 25th, Disconecta will welcome CURUMIN (@curumineosaipins) a celebrated Brazilian multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, and singer known for his electrifying fusion of samba, funk, jazz, bossa nova, hip-hop, and reggae. Since his debut in the early 2000s, Curumin has gained international acclaim for blending Brazil’s rich musical traditions with contemporary sounds and global influences. His full live show brings to life this unique sound, creating an innovative and soulful experience that resonates across generations. This event marks a rare and special opportunity for lovers of Brazilian music in Australia.
The lineup also features three dynamic Brazilian DJs based in Sydney:
Lu Faria (@djlufaria): Lu blends the pulsating energy of Brazilian music with a rich tapestry of Afro, Jamaican music, hip-hop, and beats. Her versatile performances reflect deep musical research and a passion for vibrant genre blending. She will also tour with Curumin throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Astronafrica (@astronafrica): Obsessed with drums and percussion elements that shaped his musical memory, Astronafrica’s sets are a sonic collage of diasporic, transcontinental sounds including house, jazz, dub, and psychedelia.
Dus (@dj_dus): The creative force behind Disconecta, Dus channels his Brazilian heritage through eclectic, emotionally charged DJ sets that connect rhythms, places, and people, creating a space where nostalgia meets discovery.

ABOUT CURUMIN
Luciano Nakata Albuquerque, better known as Curumin, is a highly acclaimed singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Brazil.
With a career spanning over 20 years, Curumin has earned recognition both in Brazil and internationally for his innovative fusion of genres like samba, funk, jazz, and electronica.
His 2017 album Boca was nominated for a Latin Grammy and won the APCA Award for Best Album. Curumin’s discography also includes Arrocha (2012), Japan Pop Show (2008), and Achados e Perdidos (2003).
Known for his dynamic drumming, Curumin has collaborated with major Brazilian artists such as Criolo, Céu, Paula Lima, and Arnaldo Antunes. In 2020, he released the single and music video Púrpuras.
In September 2024, Curumin returned with his highly anticipated new album, "Pedra De Silva" continuing to shape Brazil’s music scene with his unique sound and visionary approach.
