Curso Básico de Reparació / Basic Bike Repair Class (Commute.org)

Los instructores de ciclismo certificados por Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) te enseñarán los conceptos básicos para reparar y mantener tu bicicleta para que puedas circular de forma segura y sin problemas. Es un taller práctico de 3 horas para mayores de 14 años. Se impartirá en español y en inglés. Por asistir, recibirás un kit de parches y un juego de palancas para llantas.

Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition’s (SVBC) certified League Cycling Instructors will teach you the basics of fixing and maintaining your bike so that it’s safe and smooth to ride. This is a 3-hours hands-on workshop for ages 14 and up. It will be offered in Spanish and English. You will earn a patch kit and a set of tire levers for attending.

Lo que aprenderás:

• Aire: cuánto aire debes poner en las llantas.
• Frenos: cómo diagnosticar problemas, ajustar los frenos y determinar cuándo hay que cambiar las pastillas de freno.
• Cadena/cassette: cómo mantener la cadena funcionando sin problemas.
• Reparación de llantas ponchadas: cómo quitar las ruedas, arreglar una ponchadura y reducir el riesgo de sufrir llantas ponchadas.
• Temas adicionales si el tiempo lo permite.

What you will learn:

• Air – how much air to put in your tires
• Brakes – how to diagnose issues, make brake adjustments, and determine when brake pads need to be replaced
• Chain/Cassette – how to keep your chain moving smoothly
• Flat repair – how to remove your wheels, fix a flat, and reduce your risk for getting flats

Additional topics as time allows

Qué traer:

• Tu propia bicicleta (preferiblemente no eléctrica).
• Un par de trapos (opcional).

What to bring:

• Your own bike (non-electric preferred)
• A couple rags (optional)
