About this Event
Professor Christopher Yoo from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School is one of the world’s leading academic voices on regulation, competition and technology. He has been at the forefront of debates in the regulation of communication and digital technologies. His work ocuses on the interaction between regulation and innovation, particularly as it applies to digital business and AI. Professor Yoo was the Founding Director of UPenn’s Center for Technology, Innovation & Competition and is Co-Director of the Penn Center on Media, Technology & Democracy.
The panel will be chaired by Yane Svetiev, Professor of Market Regulation and Private Law at the University of Sydney Law School. He is the author of the Eighth Edition of Corones' Competition Law in Australia (Thomson Reuters) and Experimentalist Competition Law and the Regulation of Markets (Hart/Bloomsbury).
The panel will address ongoing efforts and debates in the regulation of digital platforms and AI, internationally and in Australia.
As the Australian Government grapples with regulatory responses following its 2025 Economic Reform Roundtable, the Productivity Commission’s “Harnessing Data and Digital” inquiry and proposed reforms to Australia’s competition laws, this is an opportunity to hear from several other leading experts in the field, including:
