EVENT DETAILS:
Every four years, the sport of Curling is catapulted into the international spotlight as part of the Winter Olympic Games. Though many of us may find ourselves trying to understand the rules of curling, we still have that constant thought of “I could do that” as you watch at home. GetKnit has made it easy for you to fulfill your “Olympic Dreams” with this one-of-a-kind Get-Together featuring curling, craft beer (and wine!), and a hearty meal featuring local favorite, Tipsy Steer.
Each evening will begin at Frogtown Curling Club in Saint Paul. Home to six curling sheets, this club will be all ours for each night full of curling and craft beer (or wine!)
After your GetKnit Gurus get you checked in, you’ll be invited to order up an included craft beer from Indeed Brewing Company, a glass of house wine, or a non-alcoholic beverage to help kickoff our fun evening together. Our partners at The Tipsy Steer are well known for their “Local, Sassy Brew Food” and have created a scrumptious menu to get us fueled up for our evening of sliding stones and sweeping some ice. We’ll start off with an individual Soft Bavarian Pretzel with their house-made gouda cheese sauce. For dinner, we’ll be treated to your choice of one of their house-made burgers served with chips and salad. At time of registration you’ll be able to choose between their “Faribault Pride” an all beef patty with Gorgonzola, aged cheddar, caramelized onions, bacon; the “Bacon Jam”, an all-beef patty with Bacon onion jam, brie cheese, chives, charred jalapeno aioli; the “Aged Cheddar & Bacon”, an all-beef patty with aged cheddar and thick cut bacon; or the “Impossible”, a ¼ lb Meatless patty, Violife cheese, roasted red pepper, avocado, basil pesto.
Following dinner, we will introduce our qualified instructors from Frogtown Curling Club and they will lead us in a classroom and on-ice curling lesson. After “mastering” this very unique sport, we will break up into teams of four, and enjoy 2+ hours of Curling practice and matches. During this time, we will crank up the music, enjoy some more drinks if you so choose, and have some awesome prizes for Curling contests throughout the night.
