About this Event
Ebun Sodipo makes work for those who will come after: the Black trans people of the future. Her interdisciplinary practice narrates her construction of a Black trans-feminine self after slavery and colonialism. Through a process of fragmentation, collage, and fabulation, she devises softer, other-wise ways of imagining and speaking about the body, desire, archives, and the past.
Sodipo’s work has been shown, read, watched and performed at Frieze, Tate Britain, ICA, Camden Arts Centre, South London Gallery, Auto Italia, 198 Contemporary Arts, Bernie Grants Arts Centre, Narrative Projects, Raven Row, The Block Museum of Art and Arcadia Missa. She has undertaken residencies at Gasworks, LUX, Porthmeor Studios, and Rhubaba Gallery.
Languid Hands is a London-based artistic and curatorial collaboration between DJ and filmmaker Rabz Lansiquot and artist and writer Imani Mason Jordan. Their practice explores collaboration, curation, black study and experimentation across exhibitions, moving image, text, performance, publications and public programming. Languid Hands joined 198 Contemporary Arts & Learning in 2023 as Lead Curators of the Artistic Programme. Between 2020-23 they were curatorial fellows at London’s Cubitt Artists, delivering their programme No Real Closure, which featured the work of numerous artists including R.I.P Germain, Ajamu X, Camara Taylor, Shenece Oretha. In 2021, Languid Hands curated the LIVE programme for Frieze London, commissioning new performances from Rebecca Bellantoni, Ebun Sodipo & Ashley Holmes.
