About this Event

Join us for an afternoon conversation with Gwendolyn DuBois Shaw, Jill Vaum Rothschild G'14, GR'21 and Sylvia Yount G'90, GR'95, held in conjunction with the exhibition At Liberty: Life in the City of Brotherly Love During the Early Republic. Together they will explore the themes and questions at the heart of the exhibitions being organized around the country to celebrate “America 250,” the semiquincentennial of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.

Gwendolyn DuBois Shaw is the Inaugural Faculty Director of the Arthur Ross Gallery and James and Nan Wagner Farquhar Professor of the History of Art at the University of Pennsylvania. Jill Vaum Rothschild is Associate Curator of Fine and Decorative Arts at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. Sylvia Yount is the Lawrence A. Fleischman Curator in Charge of The American Wing at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The conversation will be followed by an opportunity to view the exhibition and continue the dialogue over tea and cookies. This program is free and open to the public.
