Discover the rich visual lineage behind "Ali Banisadr: The Alchemist" in this conversation with the MFA’s Hazel and William Hough Chief Curator, Dr. Stanton Thomas.Tracing a wide arc across centuries and cultures, this talk explores the artists, movements, and traditions that inform Banisadr’s dynamic compositions – from the fantastical, densely populated worlds of Hieronymous Bosch to the expressive force of Abstract and German Expressionism, and from Medieval and Renaissance painting to Persian miniatures, alchemical imagery, and Mesopotamian antiquities.
