Lodhi Art DistLodhi Art Dist is India’s first ongoing art dist. An open-air museum by St+art India Foundation, the pedestrian-friendly colony houses over 65+ murals by renowned local and international artists. The area serves as evidence of the possibility of reimagining public spaces, bringing us back in touch with our city, its history, and the many narratives that illuminate it. Sign up for an immersive walk guided by a St+art team member to discover the murals, consider how public spaces can be utilised, and become a part of this cultural transformation.Meeting Point: Indian Habitat Centre, Gate 3About the TourThe curated tours are a walkthrough of the vibrant public art dist. They offer an interactive exploration through which St+art introduces new ways of experiencing contemporary art and the cityscape. These tours provide a complete experience, delving into the historical aspects of the location, the stories behind the project, and the murals themselves. Participants will actively witness the enhancement of the city and the reimagining of its public spaces. A tour leader from the St+art team will provide insights into the background and context of the artworks, the area, and its cultural significance in the city. (Nearby attractions include Safdarjung Tomb, Lodhi Garden, and Khan Market). About St+artSt+art India Foundation contributes to urban regeneration and community living through contemporary urban art projects. The foundation enables a vision for democratised public spaces through interdisciplinary art interventions that are rooted in the social context.Since 2014, with the support of Asian paints, the foundation has organised multiple festivals and public art projects in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Coimbatore among others. Each public art dist in the country and editions of festivals bring curated interventions to civic spaces that are embedded in urban culture, and use art as a tool to reimagine how public spaces can be utilised. For the foundation, which has been responsible for making urban art a movement in India, public art interventions are a celebration of the street as a canvas for visual creativity.
