CunninLynguists, the American rap group from Lexington, was one of the hopeful groups that ultimately ensured the genre could be revived during the years when Nas claimed that hip-hop was dead. Deacon The Villain, Kno, and Natti delivered high-quality and thoughtful lyrics, with no theme too ambitious. Additionally, Kno brought a fresh breeze to the genre with innovative productions.
From the beginning of the 21st century to 2014, they rapped an impressive catalog together. Their debut album 'Will Rap For Food', when the group consisted of only Deacon The Villain and Kno, was a strong entry. For their second project 'SouthernUnderground', Mr. SOS was added as the third member. However, the rapper quickly left the group and was replaced by Natti. After that, the rappers delivered their ultimate masterpiece: 'A Piece of Strange', which is still praised whenever underground rap is the topic of conversation.
During that time, the group toured with the likes of Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and The Strokes. The following album, 'Dirty Acres', allowed the men to embark on a world tour.
Three more great projects followed: 'Oneirology' and 'Strange Journey Vol One and Two'. But then it suddenly went quiet for about ten years.
We have heard that a new album is coming, and when we got the chance to have the rappers perform at De Centrale, we did not hesitate for a moment.
