ISACA Sydney Chapter –June 2026 In‑Person PD Session

We are thrilled to invite you to the ISACA Sydney Chapter June 2026 In‑Person Professional Development Session. Join us on Wednesday, 24th June 2026, for an engaging evening of learning, industry insights, and networking with peers across governance, risk, cybersecurity, technology, and operations. This session offers a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow professionals and strengthen your knowledge in two highly relevant domains.

Presentation 1: Cumulative Effect

Overview: Small changes can have big consequences. This session examines how the cumulative effect of growing IT complexity, rapid digital change, and overlapping cyber risks can gradually weaken an organisation’s security posture and resilience, with real-world examples and practical lessons for reducing exposure.

Presenter: Dr. Vladas Leonas Ex CIO, NSW Government

Bio: Dr. Vladas Leonas is a senior technology executive with over 20 years of experience in CIO and CTO roles, leading large-scale digital transformation, infrastructure, and technology operations across government and enterprise environments. He has worked extensively across sectors including transport, telecommunications, construction, and technology services, with a strong focus on business transformation and service delivery. Dr. Leonas has held executive leadership roles within major public sector organisations in New South Wales and previously held senior technology positions at Telstra. He is an experienced board advisor and industry contributor, a frequent keynote speaker, and an author of numerous publications, with several patents to his name. He holds a PhD and Master’s in Computer Science, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

Presentation 2: Preparing for the Quantum Era: A Practical Roadmap for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Adoption

Overview: Quantum computing has the potential to undermine many of the public-key cryptographic algorithms that underpin today's digital trust ecosystem. While cryptographically relevant quantum computers may still be years away, organisations face a "harvest now, decrypt later" risk, making preparation a current business and security priority.

This session will provide a practical, governance-focused perspective on Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) adoption. The presentation will cover the evolving threat landscape, recent cryptographic standardisation efforts, impacts on enterprise architectures, challenges in cryptographic discovery and inventory, migration planning considerations, and governance approaches for managing cryptographic risk. Attendees will gain actionable insights into developing a PQC readiness strategy that aligns with cybersecurity, risk management, and regulatory expectations.

Presenter: Sivaraj Ganesan Cybersecurity Architect & Security Leader

Bio: Sivaraj Ganesan is a seasoned cybersecurity architect and security leader with more than 20 years of experience transforming complex security, governance, and compliance requirements into practical, deployable architectures and operational practices. His expertise empowers organisations to advance their cyber maturity while maintaining business agility.

His technical specialisations include identity-first Zero Trust, Privileged Access Management (PAM), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), cloud and AI security, and cryptographic modernisation, with a particular focus on emerging Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) strategies. Sivaraj is adept at designing and delivering solutions aligned with leading frameworks such as NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, the ACSC Information Security Manual (ISM), the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), and the Essential Eight.

Throughout his career, Sivaraj has developed deep expertise in identity and access management, API security, critical infrastructure protection, and cyber resilience. He has enabled organisations to achieve measurable risk reduction by implementing pragmatic, business-aligned security architectures.

As a trusted adviser to executives, boards, and technology leaders, Sivaraj bridges the gap between governance objectives and technical implementation. He guides organisations on cybersecurity strategy, risk management, investment prioritisation, and digital trust. His approach consistently delivers resilient, audit-ready security outcomes that strengthen organisational posture while supporting business growth.
