BUG Radio is back at Cultuurhaven in West, this time to showcase three musical performances that can be experienced both live and online through their community radio. These concerts will take the listeners to settings ranging from acoustic to electro-acoustic to electric. Additionally, we are happy to have the all female run organization of BUG Radio in house on international women's day, accompanied by artists who share their feminist imprint.

Audiences are welcome to experience the concerts live in the blue room at West Den Haag, located in the former U.S. embassy on the Lange Voorhout. Online radio listeners can join in to listen to the concerts at bugradio.org.

PROGRAM

Part 1: Whispers of Bellows - A2 Abd el Monim and Mario Romero

A musical performance conceived by artist and composer A2 Abd el Monim in collaboration with accordionist Mario Romeo. Three pieces for accordion intertwine with silence and sonic density, weaving a landscape suspended betweenfragility and intensity. Moments of meditative calm alternate with sudden bursts of energy. Music becomes living matter; time stretches and contracts, while sound takes center stage, revealing its physical presence in every gesture.Pieces by Marina Leonardi, Domenico Turi, and A2 Abd el Monim.

Part 2: Unfolding Quietness (radio version) - Leslee Smucker

Unfolding Quietness delves into the exploration of sound drama and the potential of communicative aspects of the performative gesture. Unfolding is about the possibility of limitations: to create an environment where I open myself to possibilities by creating space to search for a new way of theatricality and musicality in performances.

Part 3: Ping pong transmitter - Anne Wellmer

Ping pong transmitter for electronics, field recordings and voice. Among Anne Wellmer's work are sonic environments for performances, sound installations, live music for dance and theater, radio art, music theater pieces, network projects and improvisation with electronics. Wellmer is a member of the Society for Nontrivial Pursuits, teaches experimental music within the generative arts program at Berlin University of the Arts and is a founding member of the nomadic collective New Emergences, that promotes diversity in electronic music and sound art.

BUG Radio is terug bij Cultuurhaven in West, dit keer om drie muzikale optredens te presenteren die zowel live als online via hun community radio te beleven zijn. Deze concerten nemen de luisteraars mee naar diverse settings, van akoestisch tot elektro-akoestisch tot elektrisch. Daarnaast zijn we verheugd om de volledig door vrouwen gerunde organisatie van BUG Radio in huis te hebben op Internationale Vrouwendag, vergezeld door artiesten die hun feministische stempel delen.

Het publiek is van harte welkom om de concerten live te ervaren in de Blauwe kamer van West Den Haag, gevestigd in de voormalige Amerikaanse ambassade aan het Lange Voorhout. Online radioluisteraars kunnen meeluisteren via bugradio.org.

Een muzikale performance bedacht door kunstenaar en componist A2 Abd el Monim in samenwerking met accordeonist Mario Romeo. Drie stukken voor accordeon verweven zich met stilte en sonische dichtheid en weven een landschap dat zweeft tussen fragiliteit en intensiteit. Momenten van meditatieve kalmte worden afgewisseld met plotselinge uitbarstingen van energie. Muziek wordt levende materie; tijd rekt en krimpt, terwijl klank centraal staat en zijn fysieke aanwezigheid onthult in elk gebaar. Composities van Marina Leonardi, Domenico Turi en A2 Abd el Monim.

Deel 2: Unfolding Quietness (radio version) - Leslee Smucker

Unfolding Quietness verkent de wereld van "sound drama" en de communicatieve mogelijkheden van een performatief gebaar. Unfolding gaat over de mogelijkheden in beperkingen: het creëren van een omgeving waarin ik mij openstel voor mogelijkheden door ruimte te scheppen voor de zoektocht naar een nieuwe vorm van theatraliteit en muzikaliteit in performances.

Deel 3: Ping pong transmitter - Anne Wellmer
Ping pong transmitter voor elektronica, field recordings en stem. Tot het werk van Anne Wellmer behoren audio-omgevingen voor performances, geluidsinstallaties, livemuziek voor dans en theater, radiokunst, muziektheaterstukken, netwerkprojecten en improvisatie met elektronica. Wellmer is lid van de Society for Nontrivial Pursuits, doceert experimentele muziek binnen het programma Generative Arts aan de Universität der Künste Berlin en is medeoprichter van het nomadische collectief New Emergences, dat diversiteit in elektronische muziek en geluidskunst bevordert.
