About this Event
Cultural Competency: Understanding How Bias Impacts Our Work
Join us for an engaging, reflective, in-person workshop designed to deepen cultural awareness and strengthen the way we show up for the individuals and families we serve. American Rescue Plan Act Awards Program at BHECN (Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska) provides behavioral health professionals the opportunity to grow their skills at no cost, thanks to grant-supported training for Nebraska’s mental health workforce.
In this workshop, facilitator Zabrina Holmes, Director of Social Work and seasoned clinician, will guide participants through meaningful conversations, hands-on activities, and group exercises that uncover how our own cultural lenses and unconscious judgments shape our work. Together, we’ll explore the role of culture in trauma, learn how different cultural groups experience and respond to stress, and develop tools for offering more equitable and compassionate care.
This training is intentionally limited to 24 in-person participants to ensure a supportive, interactive learning environment.
