Many Americans look down on SPAM, viewing the canned pork product with disdain. But such negative impressions stem from misinformation or lack of information about its creation, production, history and consumption. With this presentation, Dr. Kelly Spring, a food studies researcher and lecturer and the author of SPAM: A Global History, aims to set the record straight. She will take on the five primary myths about SPAM that relegate it to a lower status in the American food system, and provide an overview of the product from its origins to the present day.
