Cuculi Presents a very special evening with t l k, one of the most distinctive producers & vocalists to come out of Bristol's ongoing explosion of innovative grassroots music. In the magnificent setting of St Ambrose church in St George, they'll be performing material from their upcoming sophomore EP 'Primed for Loss' (Severn Songs) on grand piano, synths and vocals, accompanied by four-piece string section and electronics.
We're delighted to welcome songwriter Kathleen Frances to open the evening with a solo set, plus a guest visit from Ishmael Ensemble to spin some of his favourite ambient tunes during the evening.
We expect this show to sell out, so we strongly recommend buying tickets in advance from our three tiers: general release (£10); low income (£7); community supporter (£14). Having multiple ticket tiers makes the event accessible to people on different incomes while still making sure the artists take home a decent wage. Please consider which tier is most affordable for you - the low income option is capped, but talk to us if we've sold out of that option and a higher tier is not accessible for you.

t l k
“truly transportive”
“this music is going to reach people and places far and wide”
BBC6 Music (2023)
Bristol-based producer and vocalist t l k stretches the thin fabric of selfhood, leaning deeply into the ethereal realm. Fluid in genre and form, and emphasising improvisation as a core tenet for psychological processing, the enchanting sound of t l k is permeating the Bristol scene, with debut EP 'Strength In Tenderness' (2022) solidifying her as “one of the city's most exciting experimental artists” (BBC Introducing).
Developed within Bristol’s vibrant walls, t l k’s deep commitment to evolutionary introspection has allowed her recorded work to resonate widely in the live space. With the “delicate strength and clarity” of her vocals (B24/7) at the core of rich, undulating arrangements, t l k’s live show blends a palette of electronic minimalism, ambient soundscape, skewed rhythms, experimental sound design and neo-classical sensibilities to form something gently assertive, enlivening, ever-evolving, and altogether transfixing.
“A beautiful, soothing electronic lamentation about the nature of childhood grief and memory…” - GIHE
‘Serenia’ (Jan 2023) formed t l k’s first single release of the year, closely followed by ‘0101’, a vocal feature with London-based producer Kloyd. At the start of a busy year of new material, featured and collaborative releases, t l k has earned radio play on BBC Radio 1 (Sian Eleri, Jaguar) and BBC6 Music (Gilles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft), appearing as Nabihah Iqbal’s featured guest on 17/03/23. t l k’s early 2023 releases have also earned placements on Spotify editorial playlists, including Fresh Finds.
“t l k’s music has patient economy… quickly establish[ing] an intimacy with an attentive audience” - B24/7
In her first year of live shows, t l k has played across the country, including We Out Here, Jazz Stroud, Sage Gateshead and Snape Maltings, where she began recording her sophomore EP, Primed For Loss, on residency with Britten Pears Arts. The EP is set for release in Spring 2023 on Ishmael Ensemble’s label, Severn Songs, introducing a series of potent writings and a musical maturity well beyond her years.
