CUBAN SOCIAL CLUB brings the full heart of Havana to Dulwich Hill, led by Grammy-nominated pianist, trumpeter & bandleader RICHARD ORTEGA.
A graduate of Havana’s Escuela Nacional de Arte, Ortega spent years on piano with two of Cuba’s most celebrated ensembles, Azúcar Negra & Maykel Blanco y Salsa Mayor, performing across Europe, Canada & Jamaica before making Sydney home.
He takes you through the Cuban canon, interpreting the world’s most beloved traditional songs alongside his own original compositions.
Cuban Social Club draws on a rotating roster of Sydney’s finest Latin musicians, & as the night deepens, musicians from the crowd join the band on stage, the music growing more dynamic & lively as the crowd dances on.
