The CutTime Simfonica® string quartet returns with FOUR stellar Pittsburgh players adept at mixing classical (esp. symphonic) with eclecticism, humor and moxie.Featured again will be violinists Maureen Conlon Gutierrez and Andrew (Gio) Giordano, violist Stephen Weiss, and bassist Rick (Mr. CutTime) Robinson, who leads this inspiring 40-minute program 6:15p-6:55. An insightful Vanka Murals docent will then take the audience on a personal, guided 1-hour tour of the newly-restored masterpiece of Croatian artist Maxo Vanka a century old.
The program includes several popular slow works ideal in this reverberant space, plus a handful a jazzy, folksy or rocksy-but-related additions. Most notable are the "Albinoni Adagio" by Remo Giazotto and the "Nimrod Variation" of Sir Edward Elgar.
This is a ticketed series ($25) of Vanka Murals Holiday Lights Tours the weeknights before New Years'. Each night features a different musician and docent, who use a spotlight to focus on details.
