On Tuesday, May 26, you’re in for a mesmerizing trip from stoner rock to psych-metal with the French trio SLIFT.
They have gained acclaim for their mind-bending live performances, as evidenced by the live album and accompanying video performance, The Levitation Sessions; recorded and filmed in the aluminum sphere of the CEMES laboratory particle microscope in Toulouse.
In 2020, they racked up over 1.7 million views on YouTube with their KEXP session recorded at the Trans Musicales festival in Rennes.
Alongside their fascination with the physical force of sound, ILION frame their work as a Homeric journey through collapse and renewal across space-time. An album that evokes the perpetual ecstasy of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, the searing passion of post-hardcore legends …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, the psychotic blues-rock mysticism of Led Zeppelin, and the experimental psychedelic whirlwind of Swedish outfit Goat.
