The Cape Town Concert Series, has celebrated over 70 years of music making with more than 1000 solo and chamber music recitals.
This August we feature four of South Africa's finest chamber musicians who are also principal players in the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. The CPO Wind Quartet comprises Principal Flautist Gabrielle von Durckheim, Principal Oboe Lisa White, Principal Clarinet Féroll-Jon Davids and Principal Bassoon Simon Ball. Together they explore the soundscapes of wind music with a mix of duos, trios and quartets by Francaix, Villa-Lobos, Arnold, Rubtsov and Auric. With an ever busy schedule it is a rare chance to hear this combination of musicians and we thank the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra for the collaboration.
The concert takes place at 11am in the Baxter Concert Hall. Refreshments are on sale, and drinks/coffee can be taken into the hall to enjoy with the music. The Cape Town Concert Series invites the audience to meet the musicians in the foyer after the concert to talk more about their music.
