CT Presents: A Big Tent Gathering

CT's Big Tent Initiative is hosting an event that focuses on how Christians can carry out the work of justice in their communities.

Where: The Father's House in Oakland, CA

When: Saturday, September 19th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm

As part of the event, we plan to host four panel discussions, featuring six leading voices within evangelicalism and American Christianity. It will be a time of good-faith discussions on contemporary issues across ideological lines. We will also feature local nonprofits that will talk about the work they do in their communities.

Racial justice:

• Dr. Malcolm Foley: Pastor at Mosaic Waco, author of The Anti-Greed Gospel: Why The Love of Money is the Root of Racism and How the Church Can Create A New Way Forward
• Delano Squires: Director of the Richard and Helen DeVos Center for Human Flourishing at The Heritage Foundation and author of The Vanishing Black Family: How Welfare and Feminism Made Marriage Optional and Children Vulnerable

Politics, the church, and immigration:

• Chris Butler: Chief Strategist at The AND Campaign and Pastor at Ambassador Church 

• Liliana Reza: Director of Border Engagement at World Relief

The Costs and Benefits of the Digital Age:

• Dr. Felicia Song: Sociologist, author of Restless Devices: Recovering Personhood, Presence and Place in the Digital Age and Virtual Communities: Bowling Alone, Online Together
• Dr. Brian Doak: Academic VP of Digital Programs & Innovation and a professor at George Fox University
